Wood Takes Control for 2020

West Wales Raiders are pleased to announce Aaron Wood as their new coach for 2020. The Raiders have replaced Kim Williams with another Australian coach, Aaron has had plenty of experience both as a player and most recently as a coach with stints at Paramatta Eels & St George Dragons u20s, Toulouse Olympic & France first team

Aaron was one of many coaches to apply for the position of head coach, there was an array of high calibre applicants but the board decided they wanted to grow the coaching staff this season with a larger group behind the scenes and Aaron was the one who fitted with the ideas they want to work on for the club to improve this season.

The club spoke to Aaron on his thoughts of his arrival at the club “It's a very interesting role to accept ,I like challenges I want to see if I can make a difference , Im a big believer in club culture and talking with the club and staff they all want to see the team do well, we are recruiting some quality players already and I will continue to speak to more when I arrive next week. I'm excited just to get straight in to it and start working towards becoming successful team on and off the pitch. Im going to bring an energetic approach and want the team to become a hard working and humble squad. As I said previously we are working hard in bringing in a lot of new recruits so keep an eye out over the next couple of weeks.

”Club CEO Peter Tiffin added “We are very pleased that we can finally announce our new head coach for the season, it was a long process that we all wanted to get correct. This season we wanted to have a squad of staff members to work behind the scenes in making the club more successful on the pitch. Aaron fits in perfect with how the club wants to work this season, he will be straight in to work on Tuesday and will meet all of the staff new and old to put the plan in to action. Keep an eye out every day over the next month as we will be releasing all the new and old staff members plus all the players who have signed for 2020”.
