West Wales Raiders CEO Peter Tiffin provides an update on the club during lockdown.

Firstly and foremost from all of us here at the club, hope that you are all keeping safe and well during these difficult times.

We are very fortunate to have such a great community behind us showing their support & this is growing constantly.

With majority of our staff & players having a lot more down time than usual I decided to work on an array of areas to improve the club so that when the lockdown is lifted and it’s safe for us all to return we will be in a much stronger position both on and off the field.

First I wanted to gain feedback from every member of staff on how they think the club should look to improve and grow during this time. This was mainly communicated through a new management group consisting of head coach Aaron Wood,General Manager Richard Stebbing and myself.

However 2020 pans out, we here at the Raiders want to grow the club to new levels both on and off the field. A discussion with my fellow directors early on in the lockdown was unanimous that we needed to look at specific areas over the months of April & May on improving the Raiders.

From discussions with both the staff & the board it was great to see that everyone was in agreement that the club wouldn’t deviate from the plans set out.

With so much going on over the past fortnight there is really exciting times ahead. From an array of new recruits, new programmes & community schemes, improved & increased pathways, multi sport partnerships & brand new professional team partnership. There is daily communication between myself and various organisations on all of the above and plenty of ideas to work on.

I would love to indulge in to each category above but it wouldn’t make the announcements during 2020 as exciting.

During these uncertain times the RFL have been fantastic in keeping in constant communication with us all from regular meetings to daily phone calls and emails.

We are all in this together and understand that the safety and well-being of the players, staff and supporters are the main priorities before any decisions will be made on the start date of the season, we will be sending emails with updates and rewards to supporters over the coming weeks.

Lastly I would like to thank everyone who has been in contact or has helped the club during the past 5 weeks, we are very blessed to have players and staff working with our partners to make sure they have everything needed, especially the players who have taken up roles with our close partners Simply Safe Care Group in looking after the most vulnerable adults.

Stay safe & please adhere to government guidelines and hopefully I will see you all at Stebonheath Park once brighter times return.
