WEST WALES RAIDERS ANNOUNCE BRAND NEW STAR PROGRAM

The West Wales Raiders are continuing to establish the pathways for young rugby league players in Wales with the introduction of their elite program for 19-22 year olds to be known as the ‘Star Academy’.

The program will fill the current void in the pathway in Wales for players who are graduating from the Junior Academy programs but are not yet ready for the rigours of the semi-professional League 1 competition. The STAR represents the target playing group of STudents, Academy players and Rookies.

The Star Program will involve players selected from the Wales University BUCS teams (Swansea Uni, USW, Cardiff Met, Aberystwyth), Coleg Y Cymoedd, players within the Raiders junior system and Raiders contracted players. It is hoped that the Star Program will attract new players to our game and identify hidden talent within the University and College competitions, as well as providing a pathway to the higher levels of the game for our talented local players.

The program will be overseen by the Raiders Head Coach Kim Williams and will commence in February 2020.

More information on both the programme and the rookies will be released over the next couple of weeks.
