Steve Jenkins ex Scarlets Team Manager & Team Administrator has joined the West Wales Raiders as their new Development Manager.
Steve has a huge background in rugby union having worked with WRU, Scarlets, Llanelli RFC & Carmarthen Quins, he moved over to rugby league taking up a position with Wales under 19s helping them to finish third in the 2018 European Championship.
After spending two years with WRL under 19’s he wanted to continue working with developing the next generation of talent in Wales, his new role will involve working with the community and trying to grow the pathways & programmes connected to the Raiders.
Steve added “ I am really looking forward to this new challenge with a club that is looking to grow rugby league across West & South Wales. Having worked with WRL under 19’s for 2 seasons there is a need to structure the development pathways in West & South Wales with schools, colleges, universities and most importantly community clubs, so players have a clear pathway outlined with not only ways in to the Raiders but also goals of international honours and more.”
West Wales Raiders CEO Peter Tiffin gave his thoughts on the appointment “I have known Steve for a short while and his background within rugby and business is a great asset for us to have here at the Raiders, he is fully on board for what we have outlined as our plans to grow the club and to support the growth of the game in Wales. Steve will be the second member of the Development team and will get to work straight away on the plans set out."
