2 IN AND 2 OUT FOR THE WEST WALES RAIDERS AS KIM WILLIAMS RESHAPES HIS SQUAD

The West Wales Raiders are disappointed to announce that two of our players have requested a release from their contracts with the club for season 2019. Ron Palumbo and Robert Tuliatu both approached the club this week and will be released immediately following discussions with Head Coach Kim Williams.

In a statement on behalf of the club Williams added “I’m obviously very disappointed to be placed in this situation. These are two of our senior players who both approached me to join the Raiders for season 2019 and are now choosing to leave after just 7 games with the club. We are an improving team but it will take time to get to the level of performance we are aiming for and we need players who are here to help the team with our long-term goals. I wish Ron and Rob all the best but we have now moved on very quickly and have recruited two excellent replacements who will bolster our squad.”

Morgan Evans returns after completing his University commitments and he adds a wealth of experience and quality to the Raiders pack with more than 60 League games and 5 Test caps for Wales. Morgan was a member of the 2018 Welsh National squad that qualified for the next World Cup and he will bring the commitment and passion for the Raiders jersey that is required to move the club forward. Morgan is a great leader and the Raiders are looking forward to welcoming him back in the coming weeks.

The second signing is Gioele Celerino, a hard-working 2ndrower who has played 16 Tests for Italy and was a part of their World Cup squads in 2013 and 2017. Gioele has had previous experience in League 1 with the Newcastle Thunder and has also played in Australia in the strong Cairns and Canberra competitions. The Raiders are excited to welcome Gioele who has already shown a fantastic attitude throughout the recruitment process and we are sure he will be a great asset to our club.
